QAMAZI’s debut single, “6am In Sandia Hills,” is out now through 11 Ten Records.
The release begins a new chapter for QAMAZI as the label’s first artist. Following the official video for “Cold Hands Freestyle,” the single gives listeners another entry into his creative world, where outward ambition meets the thoughts that remain when everything around him grows quiet.
“6am In Sandia Hills” takes its name from an early-morning setting. Mountains, open space, and the arrival of daylight establish its atmosphere. Beneath that stillness sits a more restless perspective: the pursuit of progress, the weight of expectations, and the difficulty of leaving unfinished thoughts behind.
The Perspective Behind the Release
QAMAZI’s artistic direction draws from melodic rap, alternative R&B, and hip-hop realism. At its center is an interest in how people experience change, particularly when their ambitions begin to reshape their relationships, priorities, and sense of identity.
“6am In Sandia Hills” introduces that perspective through the relationship between place and state of mind. A change of surroundings can offer distance from everyday demands while creating space to examine them more closely. The early hour becomes a setting for reflection, with the next day approaching before the previous one has fully left.
